-american mayor in san francisco history. mayor lee championed balancing the budget to keep san francisco safe, solvents, and successful. he reformed city pensions. his focus is on economic development, job creation, and building san francisco's future. a great job, especially for helping out families. we want to keep families here. i also wanted to mention a little bit of his past. he was born in 1952 in the beacon hill neighborhood of seattle, washington. his parents immigrated to the u.s. from china and the 1930's. his father fought in world war ii and worked as a cook. he passed away when the mayor was 15. his mother was a seamstress and a waitress. mayor lee has five siblings, he graduated from college in maine, he also went to uc- berkeley law school and finished in 1978. he and his wife have two daughters. i also want to mention, prior to becoming mayor, one of the key points in his contributions to the community is after he completed law school, he worked as a managing attorney for the san francisco asian law caucus, where he was an advocate for affordable housing and the rights of imm

ocean beach a nice day for you 71 degrees. downtown san francisco upper seventies pushing close to 80 degrees. tomorrow we could set new records or close to it here is a look at your 7 day around the bay forecast. hot for thursday 93 degrees in the upper 80s for the bay the coast lower 80s with cool things down friday and>> ty bridge is out oakland into the city the approach to the bay bridge toll plaza moves well as a couple of cars on the road. traffic moves freely from all the approaches with no metering lights to deal with. here on the san mateo bridge west bound traffic tell lies towards foster city no approach on the south coming down the nimitz freeway. at the golden gate no issues with visibility southbound 101 a pretty smooth and easy ride coming out of marin county. westbound 580 in oakland we do have reports of debris blocking some of the left flank. certainly be aware of that it could become a hot spot. not seeing any yellow or red on our re roadway sensors. and napa we do have a problem no--a severe traffic colored insect and accident on the on ramp the chp says that you

usual, i checked in with san francisco muni. they tell me about 100,000 more people were on san francisco muni yesterday as compared to a typical saturday. that's bat 50% jump in ridership. b.a.r.t. tells me they had 120,000 more rides yesterday than a typical saturday. that's a jump of about a third. reporting live on pier 32, sergio quintana, abc-7 news. >> ama: thank you, sergio. and he didn't even go into all the sporting events going on today. the 49ers game against the buffalo bills at candlestick just wrapped up with the niners with another win, and in just over an hour the giants take on the cincinnati reds and while a's fans are standing behind their team despite playoff loss in detroit. is still on the loose this morning. san francisco police say think all began when officers tried to make a traffic stop for a light that was out on the license plate on the car. something very simple but it ended with this dangerous crash and the shooting and the sergeant we talked to says he feels lucky no officers were hurt. >> no one else was seriously hurt. the only injury i know of at this point is a hurt hand. given all things that could have gone wrong, i think this is pretty good. >> reporter: so san francisco police still out here investigating this morning. one interesting thing you can see sort of how violent this crash was. we saw a police officer who was carrying off the top of a parking meter. it was sheered off as a result of this accident this morning. police believe they have arrested the passenger inside this car. they are still looking for the driver of the car and at this point it's unclear why they ran from police this morning. the only thing the sergeant could come up with because they had a gun inside the car. live this morning in san francisco alex savidge ktvu ch
